Life Insurance company is initially came from British to India in 1818. Oriental Life Insurance Company started by Europeans in Calcutta was the first life insurance company in British India. All the companies established during colonial period were brought up with the needs of Europeans and Indians the people who are actually looking insurance and were not being insured by these companies. Later with the efforts of eminent people like Babu Muttylal Seal, the foreign life insurance companies started insuring Indian lives. The Bombay Mutual Life Assurance Society, formed in 1870, was the first native insurance provider for indians.
